What are Helical Piles?
Helical piles (also called helical piers or screw piles) are deep foundation support systems made of galvanized steel. They consist of a central shaft with one or more helical plates (like giant screws) welded to the bottom.
Instead of digging large holes or pouring concrete, helical piles are mechanically screwed deep into the ground until they reach stable, load-bearing soil. They are then attached to your existing foundation to provide strong, permanent support.
Key Advantages
Installed in just 1–2 days with immediate load-bearing capacity — no waiting weeks for concrete to cure.
Requires very little excavation and heavy machinery, keeping your property cleaner and reducing neighbour complaints.
Can be installed in almost any weather conditions, including winter, helping you stay on schedule regardless of season.
Engineered specifically for Ontario’s clay, sandy, and rocky soils, as well as high water table areas where traditional foundations often struggle.
Perfect for residential areas, commercial properties, and retrofits where minimal disturbance is critical.
Our helical pile installations come with lifetime transferable warranties. That means the protection stays with the home even if you sell it, giving you long-term peace of mind and stronger resale confidence.
Every helical pile system we install is custom-engineered based on detailed geotechnical reports, structural load calculations, and site-specific soil analysis. Our licensed engineers design the optimal pile type, diameter, length, and helix configuration to meet or exceed Ontario Building Code requirements — ensuring long-term performance and structural integrity.
Uses significantly less concrete and disturbs far less soil compared to traditional poured foundations.
How Helical Piles Work
DMCON uses a proven, engineered installation process to deliver fast, reliable, and structurally sound helical pile foundations across Ontario.
1. Custom Engineering & Design
Our licensed engineers begin with a detailed analysis of your project’s load requirements, building plans, and site-specific soil conditions. Using this data, we design a custom helical pile system — specifying pile diameter, length, helix size, and configuration to meet or exceed Canadian building code requirements.

2. Precision Installation
Specialized hydraulic torque motors are used to rotate the helical piles into the ground. We monitor torque readings in real-time to confirm the piles have reached the proper depth and capacity. This method causes very little vibration or soil disturbance, making it ideal for both new construction and sensitive restoration projects.

3. Load Testing & Verification
This is a paragraph area where you can include any information you’d like. It’s an opportunity to tell a story about the business or describe a special service or product it offers. You can use this space to share the company history or highlight a particular feature that sets it apart from competitors.

4. Foundation Connection
High-strength steel brackets or pile caps are securely bolted to connect the helical piles to your building’s foundation. This creates a unified, stable support system ready for immediate construction.

Common Applications for Helical Piles Across Ontario

DMCON helical piles are a versatile foundation solution used in a wide range of projects throughout Ontario — from residential homes to large commercial and municipal developments.
New Construction
Ideal for new homes, cottages, garages, and additions where stable foundations are needed quickly, especially in areas with poor or variable soil conditions.
Home Additions & Renovations
Perfect for sunrooms, second-storey additions, decks, porches, and expansions without disturbing the existing foundation.
Foundation Repair & Stabilization
Excellent for fixing settling, cracked, or shifting foundations on existing residential and commercial buildings.
Commercial & Industrial Projects
Used for warehouses, offices, retail buildings, signage, solar panel arrays, and other commercial structures requiring reliable load-bearing support.
Municipal & Infrastructure
Trusted by municipalities for boardwalks, bridges, retaining walls, utility structures, and public infrastructure projects.
Challenging Sites
The preferred solution for sloped lots, waterfront properties, high water table areas, rocky terrain, and environmentally sensitive locations where traditional excavation is difficult or prohibited.
Featured Helical Pile Projects
Real results from recent installations across Ontario

Foundation Underpinning
Queens Street, London, Ontario
This commercial property in London, Ontario had a failing concrete underpinning system that was causing significant structural settlement and cracking. DMCON installed 14 helical piles to properly stabilize and underpin the foundation. The project was completed with minimal disruption to the business operations.

ADU on Helical Piers
Highway 93, Minto, Ontario
DMCON installed a full helical pile foundation system to support a new Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) in Minto, Ontario. The property had poor soil conditions that made traditional concrete foundations difficult and costly. We engineered and installed 24 helical piles, providing immediate stability and allowing construction to proceed quickly with minimal site disruption.

Utilities Duct Bank Support
King Street, Waterloo, Ontario
Installed 34 helical piers to provide stable support for a large underground duct bank in challenging soil conditions. This solution offered immediate load capacity and minimal disruption compared to traditional concrete foundations.

Solar Panel
Concession RD 5, Kincardine, Ontario
DMCON installed a complete helical pile foundation system to support a large private solar panel array on an active farm in Ontario. The site had soft soil conditions that were unsuitable for traditional concrete foundations. We engineered and installed helical piles to provide stable, elevated support for the solar panels.
